چکیده

A system to provide non-realtime short message transmission service to a wide-area of users via Low Earth Orbit (LEO) micro-satellite is developed. To increase the system capacity, a novel and efficient slotted quasi-synchronous CDMA access protocol is specially designed to deal with the serious Doppler shift and propagation delay variation. Before each message burst transmission, the user will randomly choose an access slot to send a short request to satellite and listen to the echo from the satellite. The channel delay and Doppler shift are then estimated from the echo and compensated in the immediate following message transmission slot, thus to achieve quasisynchronization between all user message bursts. The short request also acts as a reservation indicator, which prevents other users to use the immediate following message slot as access slots. The system throughput is analyzed by exploring the capture effects of the quasi-synchronous message bursts and the asynchronous request bursts, respectively. Transceiver requirements and implementation considerations are discussed, and the prototype is also described. Keywords-Quasi-synchronous CDMA; LEO satellite;Access System

This work is aimed at investigating the use of neural network-based adaptive receivers for synchronous variable bit-rate Multi-Carrier CDMA systems transmitting over low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite channels. It is known by literature that MC-CDMA techniques are much more resilient with respect to multi-user interference effects in multipath fading channels than single-carrier DS/CDMA ones. More...

Adaptive Algorithms for Improving the Throughput in an Indoor Mobile S-aloha Ds-cdma System

This paper presents a novel Adaptive DSCDMA Slotted-ALOHA packet random access scheme with transmitter-based spreading codes for mobiles. It is aimed at improving the throughput and message delay delivery when traffic load values below the saturation point of the conventional DS-CDMA Slotted-ALOHA system are sensed in the channel. For this purpose, one Mobile and two Base Station assisted algor...

Performance of slotted asynchronous CDMA using controlled time of arrival

A slotted asynchronous (SA) code-divison multipleaccess communication scheme controlling the time of arrival is proposed for distributed spread-spectrum packet radio networks where the transmission range is limited as in an indoor wireless system. In this scheme, each terminal can send its packet randomly at any one of Nw possible time instants, equally spaced over one period of direct-sequence...
